How did you hear about the SCRC and when did you join?
Learned about SCRC from my then neighbor and long time home slice Bradso. He invited me to go to a meeting one cold February night and the rest is history.  Scores to the Wh**** Bradso!   I joined March of 2005.

How long have you been riding?
I started riding when I was 15 years old when my dad bought me my first bike.  Been riding on and off since then.

Have you ever taken a motorcycle safety course?
No, still trying to get into one.

What was your first bike?
Honda CB650

How many bikes have you owned?
2

Why do you ride?
I ride because I love the freedom and maneuverability of the bike.  I love the speed, the curves (the ones on the road too), the high protein bug snacks and the open air (especially when riding through those back roads).   There’s nothing else like it! (next to flying that is).

Have you ridden with an organized group before?
No, SCRC is my first and I really enjoy it, especially when we’re out on the road in a large group.

What modifications have you done to your bike?
Well lets see……. 3” Hard Chrome Double D straight pipes, K&C Air intake, Wicked Image mirrors, grill guard on radiator, side mount license plate, LED brake and taillights, rear short shocks (to lower the rear end), a few chrome covers and a new brake reservoir cover.  Think that about covers it!

What accessories do you want to add to your bike?
New seat, ghost flames paint job, kick the forks out a bit, sissy pad, foot boards, and replace or add anything that has a flame accent and is chrome.  What I would really like to do is change out the rear end and install a mongo tire and fender kit.

What is your dream bike?
OCC baby!  If I hit the lotto, that shop will be one of the first places I stop.  I love their bikes!  Seen a few here in the area and just drool over them.  Just because they sold out to the Discovery Channel doesn’t mean they don’t make awesome bikes!

What kind of riding do you like to do – straight-aways or twisties?
Twisties without a doubt!  I first learned to ride out in Tucson AZ and they have some great twisty mountain and desert canyon roads out there!  Turn and Burn!

If you have a nickname, how did you get it?  Tell the truth!
Well, I gave myself the Inferno nickname because I want my bike to be all flamed out.  But, I have to confess, I also have another A.K.A within the club that I earned last September.  I’ve been trying to keep this on the low down but I’ll go ahead and make it public.  Anyone who was on the “Rattle the Runway” ride last year already knows about this.  We formed up at Mighty Mikes at about 8am that Sunday.  My riding partner (Bradso) and I spent the entire evening before working on affixing full size American flags to the back of our bikes.  We rode in that morning and everything was fine.  We formed up with the rest of the riders and headed out for the Dulles Airport.  On our way down 28, right before the toll road, a car pulled up along side of me and hollered “You lost your flag!” I looked over my shoulder and sure enough, it was gone!  Poor Crank and Dina stopped and went back to get it for me (I still owe you several beers for that Crank). I pulled over, stopped and waited for Crank and Dina.  A few minutes later, here they came with Dina holding the flag out like a lance!  Serving in the military, you can imagine how mortified I felt by that. To make things worse, Crank said it didn’t just snap off, it partially snapped, fell over and dragged on the ground behind me for a mile or so before coming off all together.  Once we arrived at the airport, we looked it over and luckily the only damage was to the plastic eagle on the top; one of the wings was grounded down from the road.  With a crap load of zip ties, we managed to fix it back to the bike where it stayed for the remainder of the ride.  SO!  Because of that, I unintentionally and inadvertently earned the nickname “Grounded Eagle/Fallen Eagle”.  So there!  I told the truth!  As humiliated as I am about it, I’ll let the cat out of the bag.

What is your favorite riding route?
I have no particular route that I consider to be my favorite.  I do have a favorite riding “area” and that is many of the back roads out past Leesburg (Rte 9, Rte 7, Rte 50, small roads off of those routes) and in the Shenandoah area. Often, I just ride wherever, as long as I’m in the back country.

Do you ride your bike to work?
Yes

What is the fastest you’ve ridden?
115MPH (top speed of my CB650 back then).

What is your favorite time of year to ride?
The fall, love that foliage!

Have you ever been down?  If so, how were you hurt and what did you learn from the incident?
Been down twice with minor injuries, both in my early riding years.  Learned not to lock up my back tire and that road-rash hurts!!

Have you ever done an “Iron Butt” ride?
Well not sure if it was an Iron Butt ride but my butt sure was hurting after it.  (Referring to the next question.)

If not, what is the furthest you’ve ridden?
The 4 hour ride to Mountainfest last year from Ashburn to Morgantown, WV.

What was the worst weather in which you’ve ridden?
A few severe thunderstorms. (Damn, those raindrops sting!)

Do you know how to work on your bike?
For the most part; I’ve only had it a little over a year and of that only about 6 months of actual good riding time.   So I’m still getting acquainted to it.

What is your favorite road song?
Born to be wild – Steppenwolf

What was your most adventurous ride?
That ride to Morgantown WV, sure was adventurous!  (See Bradley for details).

What rallies or events do you like to attend?
Well, went to Mountainfest last year and I try not to miss Rolling Thunder or Rattle the Runway every year.  Been contemplating with Bradso about what rally we want to attend this year.  Thinking about little Sturgis or Myrtle beach.

Is there someone who rides “two-up” with you?
Not sure what this one means.  If it means a back seat rider, then my wife does occasionally rides with me.  She loves to ride but fears for our children should we get taken out in an accident.  She wants me to get a real good life insurance policy on us both before she’ll start riding more frequently.  If this means a riding partner who I ride together with, then most of you already know that would be Bradley.  Bradso’s my brotha from anotha motha, my partner in crime, and my drinking buddy! We go out riding together whenever we get a chance regardless of how short the ride is.  He’s also the one who introduced me to the club.

Off the cuff from…Bobby
"myself, I just some personal thoughts.  First, thanks for making me Member of the Month!  I do enjoy the club but I often feel that Bradley and I are often ostracized.  Not sure why.  Sometimes think because we drink too much or other things.  We often we show up early whenever we can and almost always the last to leave the meetings.  Even though I am almost completely inactive on the forum, I go out of my way to attend just about every meeting and ride if possible.  There was a span for several months when I was unable to attend due to my wife having classes on Wednesday nights but that’s over now so I am back in full swing.  Bradley and I are very loyal to the club (especially Bradley who probably hasn’t missed a meeting or a ride since he joined almost two years ago).  We enjoy the camaraderie we have with those members we’ve made friendships with and do enjoy being there.  We often joke about being “the outcasts” or the renegades of the group. I know we are more on the “wild” side but I’m a firm believer in enjoying everything to the maximum because you only live once!  If you, haven’t met Bradley or I, then stop by for a drink or two or three (we’re usually the ones off in the corner by ourselves!)  LOL j/k.   Peace, Love, Happiness, Good Riding, Good Sex and all that other mumbo-jumbo!"
