How did you hear about the
SCRC and when did you join?
Fall, 2006. A
friend, Pubs, formerly of the Potomac Chapter,
told me what a fun group SCRC is, and he was
right.
How long have you been
riding?
10 months
Have you ever taken a
motorcycle safety course?
Yes, at the
Harley dealer in Staunton. The instructors
there were fabulous.
What was your first bike?
My current Sportster.
How many bikes have you
owned?
Had a little Honda 50 in
college for a while. Does that count?
Why do you ride?
Because it
feels good. And because I love the camaraderie
shared with people I would never have met
otherwise.
Have you ridden with an
organized group before?
No
What modifications have you
done to your bike?
Not much yet. I swear I'm
going to get a more comfortable seat, but I'll
probably get a different bike before I get
around to making too many modifications.
What accessories do you want
to add to your bike?
I have
saddlebags that need to be mounted, and Sher has
generously offered me her old pegs. An air horn
would be good, but again I'll probably just wait
for the next bike.
What is your dream bike?
Right now it's a Heritage
Softail Classic.
What kind of riding do you
like to do – straight-aways or twisties?
Twisties for
sure. It's the twists and turns that make life
interesting.
If you have a nickname, how
did you get it? Tell the truth!
"MissBehavin'".
Well, it seems a few of us ladies were
bantering on the forum about how we were going
to get frisky at the Xmas party. The name was
given to me by Julie (Fiery Redhead), I guess
because I didn't misbehave enough to get the
name with one "s". She did stipulate that I
could change it later to the naughtier
Misbehavin' if I let loose as much as she did
that night.
What is your favorite riding
route?
Several routes to Flint
Hill, then through Little Washington to
Sperryville and up over the mountain.
Do you ride your bike to
work?
Would if I
worked. Try to ride it to do errands whenever
possible.
What is the fastest you’ve
ridden?
Coming back from the Sport
Ride last fall. 85mph. Not rocket speed, but
pretty scary for a newbie who had never been on
I66 before.
What is your favorite time of
year to ride?
Each season has
its charms. Spring for the pleasure of first
warmth and new leaves. Summer because the days
are long and it's a time for easy living and
fun. Fall for the brisk air and colors. Now
winter, that just stinks.
Have you ever been down? If
so, how were you hurt and what did you learn from
the incident?
Several gentle
lay downs mostly from not thinking ahead and not
paying enough attention, usually in front of an
audience. No injuries.
Have you ever done an “Iron
Butt” ride?
No, and I won't
until I get that cushy seat I keep talking
about.
If not, what is the furthest
you’ve ridden?
Blackwater Falls ride last
fall.
What was the worst weather in
which you’ve ridden?
Nothing bad yet. Just a
few showers.
Do you know how to work on
your bike?
No, but I wish I did.
What is your favorite road
song?
"Blueridge" by the Seldom
Scene
What was your most
adventurous ride?
Haven't done
anything too adventurous yet. Crossing an open
cattle guard over a creek by myself my first
month of riding was intimidating because I
didn't know how the tires would handle all those
holes, and there was no one around to pick me up
if I got stuck.
What rallies or events do you
like to attend?
Hope to do
Daytona maybe next year.
Is there someone who rides
“two-up” with you?
No.
Off the cuff from…MissBehavin'
There is nothing better than
the exhilaration you get from being outside and
pushing the envelope a little bit on a powerful
machine. Having people to share it with makes
it all the sweeter. Southern Cruisers,
particularly this chapter, is one of the
friendliest and most fun loving groups I've ever
belonged to. It's a wonderful thing we have
going.
