How did you hear about the SCRC and when did you join
At Coleman Powersports where I bought my first C90, there was a flyer for the ride to benefit the Deguy family, that was September 2005.

How long have you been riding?
Started 1991, rode for a few years, had to quit. Started up again in 2005.

Have you ever taken a motorcycle safety course?
Yup, when I first started riding in 1991.

What was your first bike?
Late 1980s Honda CB650

How many bikes have you owned?
3, one for only ½ a year unfortunately

Why do you ride?
To get outside & see the countryside. To smell the air, the bonfires, fresh cut grass, hayfields, whatever's cooking in the house I just passed, etc. (and just sometimes to feel/look cool).

Have you ridden with an organized group before?
SCRC was my first.

What modifications have you done to your bike?
I bought my current ride used and it already had some sweet mods: V&H pipes, Cobra fuel processor, debadged, skull graphics, ISO grips. But I have since put on handlebar riser's, gelseat, K&N air filter, kuryakyn mirrors with turn signals & an LED taillight with a Radiantz flasher.

What accessories do you want to add to your bike
May sound silly to some but those LED Electropod light kits.

What is your dream bike?
Not sure I have a dream bike, I know its gotta be a cruiser. Maybe a Dyna Wideglide.

What kind of riding do you like to do – straight-aways or twisties?
There's a time & place for both. But I tend more towards “gentle curves.”

If you have a nickname, how did you get it?  Tell the truth!
Take a look at most pics of me, I am squinting. Can’t help it.

What is your favorite riding route?
Um, country?

Do you ride your bike to work?
Sometimes. But I work 2 or 8 miles (depending on location I go to) from home, so getting ready may take longer than the ride itself.

What is the fastest you’ve ridden?
90, and that’s plenty for me.

What is your favorite time of year to ride?
Spring. Lots of pretty smells.

Have you ever been down?  If so, how were you hurt and what did you learn from the incident?
1-22-2006. Compound fracture of left wrist and right femur, broken right hip & 8 stitches in head. What did I learn? Do NOT play chicken with a F-250 pickup! Seriously, I do not recall what I was/was not doing, but I believe I probably was taking in the scenery too much and lost concentration. Ya know how it’s said, the bike will go where you’re looking…….. So, enjoy your surroundings, but be aware of your surroundings and focus on where you are going..

Have you ever done an “Iron Butt” ride?
Not yet, maybe sometime.

If not, what is the furthest you’ve ridden?
Dunno. When I ride, I hardly ever look at a watch or tripometer!

What was the worst weather in which you’ve ridden?
Cold, Light rain

Do you know how to work on your bike?
No

What is your favorite road song?
Boom boom boom by Vance & Hines

What was your most adventurous ride?
Probably the infamous “Hitchhiker” ride where I picked one up along Rt 15. It was a huge branch sticking out from the shoulder that lodged into my radiator box. Amazingly, I kept bike up and to everyone's surprise, kept going. (Hey, would YOU stop on Rt 15 at night?)

What rallies or events do you like to attend?
At this point, anything that fits my schedule.

Is there someone who rides “two-up” with you?
No.

Off the cuff from…Squintz
"I’ll just take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE in SCRC Loudoun. Many of you helped me out immensely while I was laid up from my Jan ’06 accident. Others have been helpful with mechanical, technical or riding advice. And everyone has just been great friends and a pleasure to ride with. Even SCRC riders from other clubs treat everyone else like family! Amazing! Riding alone can have its pleasures, but riding with a group that doesn’t judge, has fun and supports each other, is just great. Now lets ride friends!
